Are you confused about Health Canada's Cosmetic Notification Forms that you are required to fill out for every cosmetic that you sell?

Have you decided to sell your handmade products? Whether it's in a market, or a trade show or even online, you must submit a Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF) to Health Canada before you can sell your products in the Canadian market. All cosmetic manufacturers, distributors, or importers in Canada must do this. Your cosmetic number is valid until you discontinue it.

Many people find the process of filling out this form may seem overwhelming and confusing. If you're new to the soap and cosmetics industry, you may not even have time to fill out a Cosmetic Notification Form correctly.

The good news is that we can file for you. Save time, aggravation, money, and energy. We'll ask you some questions about you and your product. You may receive your cosmetic number immediately if there are no problems with ingredients. As long as you submit within 10 days of an expected sale you will be good.

STOP! It doesn't just end at submitting your CNF's. You will discover as you grow and change, that this is the tip of the iceberg. You will also need to:

  • start organizing and filing your original CNF's
  • submit CNF amendments for all variants and formulation changes of the original CNF
  • submit discontinuation notifications
  • You will need to track and organize these too.

Let us help you with that.

CNF Submission: We will require your ingredients for our cosmetics to get a cosmetic number.

Variant: If you have one formulation but other names due to different scents, flavors, colors or names, these would be considered variants. This will be submitted with your original CNF Submission.

Amendments: are submitted when you alter your original formulation or add a variant. These will happen after you have been selling for a while

Discontinuation of a product for sale. When you stop selling a product, you must also inform Health Canada that you have done so.

DID YOU KNOW? You must also submit a CNF:

  • If you are repackaging or rebranding a product that is not your own and giving it a new name.

Can't figure out your percentages? We can also do this for you.

Percentages: if you would like us to figure out what percentages of ingredients are in your formula, add this. We will need to know the weights (preferably in grams) of each ingredient.

Some items may require extra time. Some items will be tailored to suit your needs.
