Wixy Soap Attended It’s First Market in 7 Years!

The Sweet & Chic Market, hosted by Kelly and Carly of Queen of Hearts, was well-organized. They did plenty of advertising on Facebook, and the foot traffic was steady from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 5, 2024. The weather was perfect for October—clear, calm, and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 15°C.

Wixy Soap brought many of its retail products, but our main focus was on sharing information about our classes. I have to admit, while I may not be the best at staging a table, it looked pretty good after Grace worked her magic. Still, I noticed people’s eyes glazing past the table. Perhaps soaps and skincare are a saturated category at markets, though I’m not entirely sure since this was my first market in 7 years.

Then it was time to get to work. As soon as people glanced at the table, I said, “We teach classes,” and suddenly, it was like time stood still. I had their full attention. It was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had at a market.

In my little world of hosting classes, selling supplies, and working with loyal clients, this moment reminded me of the power of engaging with new people face to face.
